My first wrestling match was against my dad on the carpet of our family room when I was 4 years old and in 1st grade I watched a high school dual meet for the first time - I loved the sport from a young age. From 3rd grade up into college and beyond, I spent countless hours in wrestling rooms and gyms striving to be a champion. I had great coaches who invested in my development as an athlete and a human being - my dad was my youth coach; Jim Lenth, Paul Corner, and Lee Miller were my high school coaches; Pat Santoro and Greg Strobel coached me at Lehigh University. I traveled the country at the youth, high school and college level, wrestling in NJ, PA, IA, IL, KS, MO, OK, OH, CO, and TX. I made the podium at the state tournament (3rd) and at national opens, but never finished at the top of the heap at the end of the season like I had always worked hard for. Wrestling brought me a profound sense of purpose, many joys, and some crushing lows. When I look back on it, it’s the relationships that stand out even more than the wins and losses. Working hard with teammates in and out of the room, developing under the guidance and investment of great coaches, and building friendships across the country is where the real gold is. I’ve received a lot from my time as an athlete and it’s what drives me to give back as a coach. - Coach Tim
